HOW TO COOK DRIED BEANS | COOK WITH ME ON A BUDGET | PANTRY CHALLENGE COOKING
Hello friends, my name is Christine, and welcome to Frugal Fit Mom! In a version of a pantry challenge, please cook with me today on a budget as I show you …
Hi there, I just bought a pressure cooker today after being really inspired watching you use your assorted ones, so wanted to ask if you would consider doing a video on the different settings in the menu options, to explain the ones that aren't so self-explanatory and how best to use them please? For example there is a congee setting on my menu options and I have watched some people make congee but not that many, so would love to see a recipe video incorporating this. It's a rice dish that can be made sweet or savoury, but from what I've seen is usually a savoury dish. I know that some people choose odd options that perhaps aren't always the most obvious choice, so for us newbies who haven't ever owned a pressure cooker before I would really benefit from being able to see a video that explains these menu options a little better, as there's nothing in my manual to let me know what they're all for and which are best to use for certain dishes. Thanks 🙂
Insent pots seam ease to use but I have not use mine do to fear of not using it right. Glad I came across your video I think beans would be a good first time cooking with a inset pot.
Favourite bean- kidney beans as refried beans on nachos. Close second garbanzo beans in falafel
I don't have a pressure cooker at all. I want one so bad but can NEVER afford it. Even on sale, they're too much. I do love beans. My favorite thing to do is make chili. I use kidneys, pintos and white beans just for variety. I also love a good hummus. I need to try that chickpea salad. It sounds delicious. On the cheap side, I'll get a can of baked beans and slice up some hotdogs and toss them in for beanie weenies. The canned Beanie Weenies already made is just nasty lol!!
Thanks Christine! I appreciate all your content! ❤️ all beans and breads! Probably if forced to choose, 🤔 black beans (and homemade yellow rice) with skillet cornbread and honey butter. Tfs!
I love white or pinto beans with corn bread. I have tried my Instant pot for cooking them, they are about 1 year old and they want cook. I would like to know the time you cook your different beans. Also do you let them release natural or do you release at a certain time. I am thinking of canning beans never have canned beans. Thanks for sharing, hope you all are warm and well. Blessings
I don’t eat meat, so beans have been a regular part of our diet since, like, forever. 🤪 but I haven’t used dry beans until recently. This was a very helpful video! Thank you!
The bags of dried bean 15 bean soup is our favorite use for 15 bean soup
yes!! this was so good, I was looking for new receipes for legumes. Never freezed the beans before…. do you frezzed it with some of the cooked water or just dry?
I never soak beans.
How do you release the pressure in the instant pot. Could you maybe do a video on how to use the instant pot. I got one but am terrified to use it.
I like black beans in my red beans and rice (instead of red beans). I like black beans in my chili. I like black beans on my taco rice…. My husband is not a big bean fan. I am a bean fan. Guess who adds ALL the beans? Moi.
My kids can’t stand beans but I noticed they love it when I add them to their smoothie. There’s a lot of nutrition in the bean’s broth… maybe consider using them as a soup broth or smoothie? 🤷🏻♀️
I love love looove beans but I get so gassy from them that my stomach basically hurts all day after eating them. I don't know how you guys get away with eating them so often! And yes, I have read below to soak them in vinegar water or to add green spices or ginger to them so they aren't that gassy or to really drain and add clean water to them, but none of these steps really make a difference in how gassy they make me. :'(
I was wondering why you don’t put any seasoning in with the pinto beans ?
I like to use kidney beans with a baked potato bar
Instant pots are $270-300 on amazon AU, not including shipping 😅😭 i dont reckon my kids love me that much
Lol thank you!! I tried making ground beef yesterday and forgot to seal it🤦 i made hard boiled eggs too and they were runny…such a learning curve for me😅
What about the white beans? My family loves the refried beans recipe in the Instant Pot booklet. So easy 😊
I love chickpeas and can't wait to try the recipe you demonstrated
One of my favorite ways to use garbanzo beans is in a Mediterranean salad: fresh tomatoes, cucumber, shredded carrots, garbanzo beans, fresh basil or cilantro, feta cheese, sunflower seeds, and salad dressing of your choice. Mmmmsss. Keeps well for 2-3 days, too.
I love spicy black beans. I just love them with rice.
Most Americans are missing out on the health benefits and versatility of using beans as the entrée vs. the side dish! We recently got into falafels, and have made hummus for past couple years, but haven't focused on beans-as-entrée to the degree that we should be.
I really like beans…. I only cooked them from scratch a few times and wasn't happy. It was black beans. I am cool with cooking Navy or oth r white beans in ham and bean soup. I have also made lentel or split pea soup at a nursing home I used to work at….. But cooking beans for the sake of beans I am not confident at! I wonder if the instant pot would be good. I will say I did not like rice in the instant pot. I did use less water then I would have normally used. So mayb that recipe was crap. Would love some more instant pot basic videos/ recipes. Easy stuff or pantry items. Maybe make a video. I know a lot of people who own them and have never used them because they are intimidated by it.
