  1. If you have access to the demographics of your product, and they are predominantly male or female, then how TF is marketing to that gender bad for your business!!?!? When your doing gender based marketing, that doesn't necessarily mean your saying ''hey men, come get me, only men!'' your just showing and making things that appeal to men more then women. For xample, u make lipstick, and u will market it on beautiful women because a vast majority of ur customers will be female because most men don't want to buy lipstick, it's not they are pressured by society not to, it's just they DON'T WANT TO.

A less gender based product, let's say a fantasy RPG video game. Again, we all know the vast majority gender demographic for fantasy rpg video games are male, so u will put cool skulls on armor and blood and guts or so fourth because that is gender based marketing, but not as 2 dimensionally as u may think. Gender based marketing goes way beyond just saying ''good for men'' or ''good for women, if you're women must buy''

  2. In one line
Gender focused Targeting/marketing is not best strategy unless you are working on very gender specific product for your business..
Thanks for saving your time 😊.

  3. She said that women drink beer like she was revealing a secret that society isn't woke enough to grasp. Obviously women drink beer. No woman is discouraged from drinking beer. How many clips are there on YouTube of everyone praising a woman who can down a beer in one swig?
Beer is supposed to be tough and rugged. The image of beer is masculine and there's nothing wrong with that. It certainly doesn't stop women from buying and drinking it, so what's her beef? She seems to be inventing a problem…
She also didn't actually say that gender was useless in marketing, she just said that gender wasn't the MOST important aspect of consumers, but she didn't say if it was a close second or third. That's pretty important. It doesn't seem like it's enough to say targeting gender is bad for business. So, it really looks like her angle is trying to make society better by getting rid of gender differences in marketing, not necessarily that it's bad for business.

  4. Everyone is upset about this Ted Talk but I think it's really informative for those marketing in a business, not so much for those spending their time watching yt videos to get triggerhappy against feminists. She's not even biased at all, it's just a suggestion but all of you are so quick to get upset I'm kind of disappointed.

  5. Alright. Let us take food. If I want to advertise my food and go with fatty burgers for guys and with colorful thai food for women. As you said it is easy, I may not target everyone, but I just scored pretty high with a huge majority. Gender based ads are smart.

  6. We’ve known there are biological differences in the neuroticisms of men and women for 25 years. The science isn’t even debated. I don’t think men or women should be pressured to be masculine or feminine, but the idea that the two don’t generally fall into those categories is absurd. What a dumb talk

  7. Is it me or does this talker sound like a child with her argument? How can gender based marketing be bad for business? Its almost like saying language based business is bad as well

  8. She never said WHY? "Bad" isn't an answer. And yes, both men and women eat. That's OBVIOUSLY why there aren't gendered food commercials lmao. Commercials are about who BUYS the product, not who consumes or uses the product… No good marketer is going to cater to the very small amount of women who crossover to a typically male enterprise or vice versa. "It's not even a feminist push."

  9. I always thought I'm the only man who understands women. They are just like men, and I don't understand them either. This proves my point. Thank You.
