Dec. 1, 2019: first chinese mandatory vaccination program goes into effect.
Last I heard was that it had a mortality rate at about 10-11%

First two cases comfirmed in Italy today, they were tourists that visited Milan, Rome, and two other cities. They already had the virus when they arrived on 23 Jan in Milan.

I think this is going to be like SARS and N1H1 (fatality wise) – much to do about nothing in the US. With that being said , my heart goes out to anyone who has been affected by this disease and I hope it dies out quickly.

The timeline is not accurate or complete. First sign of coronavirus was discovered mid December. First leaked report of patients commonality was Dec 15th. This was reported to Hubei Provincial government. First local reporters who investigated the matter went to the market Dec 18th and it was still business as usual. Dec 30th the lab report confirmed that the virus was a kind of coronavirus. Genomic study was submitted to WHO, which by then, ended with conclusion that the virus is not contagious. Jan 8th, the government changed their stance and says that it was limited contagious. By this time, still no control method was employed to contain the virus. Same day, Chinese official news broadcast reported imprisonment 8 medical workers who first leaked the news of the new virus, accusing them of spreading unconfirmed rumor that will hurt national interest. Jan 15th, the government changed stance again, saying that the virus is contagious. And some control methods starts to be employed. The rest are mostly known to the world.
