Interesting, question; most people are left hemisphere/right handed dominated, I am left handed/right hemisphere dominate dyslexic ADHD, and have never had an addiction, but have found that cannabis helped me concentrate and raise my grades enough to graduate from HS, I have never cared for those drugs that caused addictions, so my question, how does our dominate hemisphere effect addiction or the desire or need to use those drugs that cause addiction…???

What irritates me so bad about the discussion of consciousness is the conflation of behavior and consciousness. It's extremely anthropocentric, the arguments that are usually presented, not that there couldn't be a distinct experience of human consciousness.
Brains dont need to be damaged to realize that mind, perception and conciousness is created by electro-chemical processes in the brain. Just take some chemical substances, be it anastheticums or psycho active drugs. Also psychologic illnesses emerging from unfortunate development of our neural-network by unfortunate input, show us that our feelings and mind are a emerging product and process

We don't create the color in our mind we interpret it. If I have a red apple, get brain damage and the next day it is grey wouldn't the apple still be inherently red?

Now put on a blindfold. Now jump. Do these people have any idea of what they're saying…or are they just not expressing themselves well?

Bad brains are a sweet band
One of most interesting phenomena is why are people generally good persons. There's no need to be normal or feel empathy towards others, when we think about it. It's also very complicated and exhausting process, no matter if it apply to social interactions or self judgement. If brains can't distinguished signals from various parts sometimes, how can they maintain illusion of a good person? And if good is just a social construct, than bad personality is much the same. Important is, we can't go bad just because some parts of our brain doesn't function anymore, it's possible, but there are other reasons involved in transformation of healthy consciousness. People are good for a reason, logic dictate certain thought processes and behavior we adopt since early age. There are no clear social rules, empathy is evolved trough experiences and self examinations, social awareness is based in things all people need alike. Worst decay and degradation is something called abomination. It's not a mental disorder or brain damage. Some psychopaths choose to became bad, they don't want to think rational, ignore empathy or even stimulate own sadistic aggression, they devote their miserable lives to challenge nature and God to destroy them, even if it cause them enormous suffering they wish to overcome and eternal shame they challenge God with, hopping he will finally manifest somehow and end their self induced agony. Problem is, abomination can't survive in real world alone, extreme self degeneration is possible only if supported by an authoritarian system. There's only one thing abomination desire, to be noticed by others, at all cost. Everything get reversed in their head, normal people try to stand out with their achievements and example, abomination demand recognition for exactly opposite reasons, to show how low can a person go and live their lives just the same, not being punished by anybody and anything.
I am personally more interested in those born with severe mental deficiencies. That leads to whole other arguments about free will, consciousness, and 'god' screwing up.
Brains go bad when the ignorance of flawed observations are indoctrined and hardened as truths into the plasticine psyche of children such as; religion and tales of spiritual horror. It's abuse of children and cruelty to dumb animals. CONSCIOUSNESS
Consciousness is not fundamental in the universe! Consciousness is emergent from matter and cannot exist in dark energy. The universe is simple, to the point of a singularity. While, theology is totally ambiguous, to the point of delusion. There is absolutely nowhere in the universe that requires the existence of a god creator and therefore becomes a mooted point, without evidence, in the overal evolution of electromagnitism or, the "emergent" consciousness of biological life and silicon based, artificial intelligence.
Consciousness and materialism are not identical because, the brain does not reproduce the reality of materialism. Consciousness are only analog excerpts interpreted from the information of electrical impulses through your limited biological sensory inputs, by the brain. The algorythimic functions of thought processes producing the constant scan of you gray matter, have to be mentally incorporated in order to properly interprete these sensory input pulses through the rigors of emotional control, personal growth, maturity, education and scientific research, in order to correctly perceive reality. Problems arises within the subrountines of emotional response to the environment, programmed into the DNA core operating system throughout the evolution of the human species entity.
I imagine that the sense of ownership of the sense of the self consists of a network of the smaller ownerships the agents of particular senses. The sense of being in a group of individuals is closely related to the sense of being a group of individual senses inside the mind.

Why do scientists think the brain is the source of who we are…it’s like confusing the radio with the transmission. The transmission exists beyond the radio, and if it is damaged it ma lose or distort the transmission. How about a deeper conversation on the nature of consciousness!
