Writing to a file from within a python package

I’m currently working on a project that involves some relatively complex calculations, which I’m doing via a python module within a script.
I’ve now written a few functions for calculating a few things, which are pretty successful in their current state. I’m using a dict to store some parameters to these functions and storing them into a file. However, I’m hitting a bit of a wall as it doesn’t seem to be the most efficient way of doing things.
Here’s a sample of what I’m doing:
import myPackage
my_dict = {‘params’: {‘a’:1, ‘b’:2, ‘c’: 3}}
myPackage.write_params(my_dict)

This means that everytime the function is run, it will write the dictionary out to the file as well as change a dictionary I need to be using. I’m already going to be dealing with a large amount of data so this is going to be a bit of a waste.
My question is, if it’s possible to store the information in a separate file (which I will be parsing later on), and then be able to call the functions from within the package. I’ve seen lots of solutions to this, but most of them involve calling the function, and then deleting the line, which I don’t think is the best way to do things, and it seems like it’s going to be a problem if I need to load the information again.
