  1. Pregnancy sucks for some of us, but knowing you’re giving your child the best chance to make it to term, grow up healthy & to excel academically HAS to be more important to you then your own level of temporary comfort. If you’re not ready to put someone else ahead of yourself, it’s ok, nothing to be ashamed of- just plz don’t get pregnant until you are.

  2. A patient during my OB clinical "I use cocaine and weed. When I found out I was pregnant, I quit weed." Lmfao people kill me.

  3. I absolutely do not think there is any demographic, pregnant or otherwise, smoking more weed today than they were before states started legalizing it recreationally. Every study in states that have legalized not done by groups trying to re-outlaw weed have shown overall use has gone down. Most areas in MA are completely dry as far as weed goes for illegal sales.

To the point of the video though I would absolutely be against a woman smoking just because while she's pregnant. There's a reason that the states that have legalized recreationally set the age to 21. Enough studies have been done to show that use in childhood does in fact screw up the brain. I can't imagine that is any better when you're talking about the still forming brain of a fetus. So I consider it just as abhorrent, abusive and irresponsible for a woman to toke while pregnant as I would if she were drinking or smoking cigarettes or taking meth. Now if she has a medical condition and weed is the thing that has helped her the most and is the least dangerous medication then you have to weigh that. If you would be taking much harsher pharmaceuticals otherwise with even more dangerous side effects then weed is probably the better choice but just like pharmaceuticals it is not going to be without consequence. This is just another reason why we need to end the unreasonable federal prohibition on weed so we can get some good studies done on weed from every angle and find out fact from fiction.

Also, I'm not sure there's really any such thing as mansplaining at least not when you're talking about facts that don't depend on a gender specific point of view. I mean I know some women who describe themselves as feminists that will accuse a person of mansplaining if you comment that it's raining when water is falling from the sky. I think it's mostly a term some people use to just shut down conversation when they're on the losing side of an argument.

  4. Weed baby here! Mom smoked weed through her pregnancy with me. To sum it up, I'm a college graduate with a 3.7 GPA, Painter, Graphic Designer, and Lover of life (mmm…sound la little like a flower child)! Now just because I came out ok doesn't mean it won't be ok for another.

  5. We can only speak from experience. My lady and I puffed, and our baby boy only weighed 4 pounds 13 ounces. But his level of compassion and ability to think outside the box, has me just as confused as the doc. My son was even born at Stanford. Thanks for the un convincing attempt Doctor.

  6. What my family doctor told me about weed was this:

There’s no clear and convincing evidence that says weed is as dangerous as most people think it is, but at the same time, there’s no clear and convincing evidence that weed is as safe as its proponents think it is. My personal opinion is that it’s better for your health and safety overall to not use weed recreationally, because we don’t really understand its effects for good or bad. Plus, just like alcohol, some people can use it in moderation and not have any problems, and some people can be damaged just by using even a little. So, until we better understand it, I think it’s best to stay away.

  7. I’ll tell you what .. to play it safe I say no. I would love to know if there is a correlation between drug use at birth and if the child is more septa bull to become a user because of the mothers use of any illicit drugs along with its Cause and affect on child development Especially with any Conative differences vs non drug use . At the end of the day is the risk worth it not knowing the effects on child .

  8. "I wouldn't feel comfortable with the data that this is safe, because it isn't there. I get one shot to have a kid that isn't totally (bleeped) up. I have one evolutionary job, which is reproduce in a decent safe way, and I don't want to screw it up so I wouldn't do it until we have more data…..just say I don't know and make a decision based on the risks and the benefits."
The data isn't quite there so you can't really recommend one way or the other, but personally you would lean toward no. Well, That is exactly how many people feel about vaccination while pregnant, which is off label use/recommendation….the data is not there to support safety and it should not be recommended by physicians based on the exact principles you lay out here toward cannabis use during pregnancy. 9. QUESTION. What are your thoughts on Gulf War Syndrome/Illness?

I am a DesertShield/DesertStorm veteran and have been dx w/, presumptive, Fibromyalgia, CFS, and IBS, alone with many other issues as well. I had a colon resection in 2006, part of sigmoid, and suffer from severe constipation. As a profession, I am a chef and my diet is well balanced. NEVER PROCESSED foods and we grow our own veggies, herbs for my Inn.

    Thank you for your interest.

  10. Seems like the root of many of these situations is using Marijuana or alcohol, then finding out you're pregnant, or have been for awhile.

I grew up with many "pot babies". Not gonna say they were all ADHD, but misdiagnosed Ritalin seemed pretty plentiful.

  11. Isn't thc and cbd metabolized in the liver? Like a ton of other meds? I'd worry about drug interactions we haven't studied yet, either. So many unknowns with cannabis. I agree, "we need to science the crap out this."

  12. Pregnant mothers should consume as close to a primal/paleo diet as possible—that's the environment humans are evolved for. Agricultural products, including weed, are very recent in evolutionary terms. This includes Ben & Jerry's, so be careful should you proceed.
