When I was young I had a horse named Rebel. My dad used to clean the stall for me. He would take the older manure home to his garden. He swore by it. Said if we sold it we’d make a fortune, he called it “Rebel Grow”. Lol having said that I’ve read that it’s best to use old/aged horse manure as fresh is too strong of fertilizer. The other thing to be aware of is that horse owners use chemical worming medications a few times a year (another reason to use older manure) so ask whom ever is giving you manure and if so do they de-worm the horses with chemicals and how long ago was the last de worming. I’m not sure if or how it will affect us humans, but I would think it might as the dosage for horses are large and it concerns me if the manure came from a recently de wormed (by chemical dewormer) horse. Some people only use DE and that manure would be fine. Just something to be aware of when using horse manure (maybe other such as cow too, farmers use different chemicals for reasons on different livestock).
The tulle around the tomato cage is great for larger plants! I’ve got an apple tree and peach tree that the ground squirrels get the fruit as soon as they are ripe. They will wipe out the entire crop all that will be left will be the peach pits. They are still smaller trees only a few years old. But big enough it’s hard to cover well. Last year they got under the tulle and got to the peaches. 😢 it’s a desert peach and they are so delicious! The squirrels agree!

Are hummingbirds good for the garden?
You’re incredible. I’m in the Mojave desert near 29Palms and I’m collecting the stuff that’s laying around to garden with. I never imagined. Your instructions are clear and I’ve subscribed. Thank you so much
I think what she tries to say is those seeds are F1 hybrid, which means if you open pollinate and form fruits that will be F2 and it will never be the same as F1 hybrid, but I won’t be afraid of that. Nature hybrid is the best it increases the variety and taste better

We have lots of regular bird seed feeder in our yard in central Florida . Cardinals, Red Belly Woodpeckers, Blue Jays, lots of finches….. My question is , we put in three Hummer feeders out yesterday. Will our current bird population keep the Hummingbirds away ? We also have dozens of Monarchs as we gather eggs and protect them til release. We (wife and I) were inspired by you and your Hummingbird videos and are anxious to see those beautiful babies. Thanks Dan
I love your tote methods. I am trying totes this year, because we have a yard full of trees! I have tried to grow celery, but it always taste bitter? I don’t know what I’m doing wrong! Any suggestions?
