Hehe….and if a government introduced a new law criminalising things like carrying pocket knives (because we know that everybody carrying any sort of knife with them MUST be up to no good – right?), they have effectively caused a rise in crime rates. But at the same time they‘ll either say that they are rising and it‘s the previous government‘s fault or will insist that crime rates are declining since they are in power.
