The fourth instalment of the Regalia series, Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs, is the tale of a hero’s journey. The game starts from the end of the previous installment of the Regalia series. Luckily, the majority of the characters have survived the previous game’s disastrous and ending, making it possible for you to get the experience you want from the game.
The main quest
The main quest of Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs is set in the Regalia universe. After the events of the previous game ended, Selesia was defeated, and the world was in ruins. In the present, it is half a year since the end of the story. After a riot in the city due to the royal wars started by Garalde, the kingdom of Selesia was invaded by the barbarians from the west. The regent of Selesia, Ignis, was assassinated and the noblemen and the royal family were chased to the capital. The prince of Selesia, Cyrus, has taken his mother’s place and has declared the monarchy to be forfeit.
Despite this, there are still heroic rebels, working for the revival of the royalty. Selesia has to decide if this is the best option for their people, or if they should just accept the fate that comes from the people.
Battles
Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs contains turn-based battles. You can avoid turn-based battles if you want, though. Although you don’t have to worry about entering battle against a certain enemy at a set time in the game. You can go around battle maps and find enemies on the map.
The story is told through voice acting, and the characters have unique personalities to each other. It’s a very enjoyable experience.
Music
The music in Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs is very good. I can’t believe there is so much music in this game. There are large amount of set pieces, with a traditional Japanese soundtrack and music. In the story, you can also listen to the dramatic music. The battle music is also very good.
Graphics
Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs has quite a few characters to draw, and they’re all drawn in high quality. The graphics are good, even though there were some glitches when I played the game.
Overall: Regalia: Of Men and Monarchs is a very enjoyable JRPG. You’
