  1. Years ago I thought Britain had an experimental program that had Doctors give heroin addicts safe injections for as long as they needed the drug under the theory that people on safe, medicalized use of heroin without any judgment would eventually with psychological help cause people to eventually come off the drugs because they simply discovered they didn't need or want them to get along in life…? Whatever happened to that program?

  2. I simply don't know why aren't we folowing Portugal.. Are criminalising people for weed.. Legalize them.. Prescribe free farmaceutical drugs for those in need of a daily doses… Let humans be..

  3. Translation- “The United Kingdom would rather make money off of its citizens having them sit in prison addicted to drugs then be able to get help and function in society.” Is pretty much all I heard

  4. – As long as people realize this would mean compulsory drug testing for many jobs like driving cars, lorris, trains & planes, when you think how people in the UK abuse alcohol compared to the rest of Europe how would medical services cope, they wouldn't…

  5. I gave up drinking it was doing me harm I gave up tobacco for a heart op, but throughout all this I still have cannabis in a pipe

  6. I think the UK has again a lot to learn from their best friends in the World. And despite of Brexit, people from both countries are condemned to coexist as friends. So come to Portugal and understand why we are among the 3 most peaceful nations in the World. Only islands keep us from nr 1.

  7. ALL YOU EED TO DO IS LOOK AT PORTUGAL,HOLLAND SPAIN ,SOMESTATES IN THE USA AND VANCOVER CANADA AND IT WORKS FIGHTING A WAR ON ADDICTS AND DEALERS AND THEY NOT BEEN WORKING SINCE 1971 HIGHER USE HIGHER DEATHS HIGHER CRIME HIGHER EVERYTHING TO DO WITH DRUGS,JUST LIKE THE USA ON PROABITION DIDNT WORK DECRIMEIANALIZE HERION AND CRACK AND COKE AND LEGILIZE THE OTHERS MAKE LOTS OF JOBS AND HELP FOLKS MORE POLICE MONEY CAN GO ELSE WERE IN THE FORCE

  8. ( sorry my English)
Hello, I want to introduce myself first.
I am a drug addict on methadone treatment , doing this treatment 10 years, and have used heroin and coicaine for 21 years.
I lived in the streets of Lisbon, and I have lived in London, Spain, Germany, Israel, Brazil, and I have always consumed heroin, especially heroin , in Brasil only crack and cocaine .
First of all I want to inform you about some things that this video speaks about , because those who do these videos are not usually people who have lived the drugs but is made by or students or social , or journalists, who are based on information they give them.

The video starts talking about overdoses in the UK, comparing them with Portugal , I want to dismistify why you can not compare . All Portugal population 10 million, Lisbon 505 thousand people. London 8.136 million , UK 67 million .
    Heroine:
Heroin in the UK in a 100 ml syringe you have to be very careful because you can only put 20 ml because it is of a very high degree of purity, the heroin in Portugal is a joke compared , you can inject twice 100 ml , heroine in Portugal all over is a crap 💩.
About this lie of Portugal .
if in Portugal if you sold half the quality of heroin sold in the UK, people would still be addicted, but if it was 90% no one would go for methadone.

I will return here to edit and write a little more , more about this fake legislation in Portugal

  9. A government caring about people. On what planet is this? Society votes for leaders who wage war and directly cause the deaths torture pain and hunger around the human world. When did governments become legal?

  10. alcohol is the worst drug of all but the government make to much money off it to ban it you only need go up your town centre on a Friday or Saturday night to see it

  11. If you teach people how to take drugs responsibly, they will, most likely, evaluate themselves and their drug usage, and "start from scratch". If drug users are treated as people, they will be more responsible about it. You take away the need for someone to go to a corner and consume, most of the times, weed, and it stops being a taboo!…. people can have real certified information about what their consuming, they don't feel cast aside because their treated like regular human beings, and suddenly!… everyone just gets to have a better time, some people get the ability to regain their lives and dignity back, and overall we just move on because reason and logic prevailed.

  12. I lost my brother to drugs, he died of a heroine overdose. Treating addicts like criminals is bullshit and does nothing but drives all that activity underground. The person doesn't have access to the kind of help they really need and end up like my brother did.

  13. There should be a protest where thousands of people go outside parliament and just do what ever drug the want

It would proabably do fuck all but it would be funny at least

Our government is ran by people from an older generation they believe the things that they were told by anti drug propaganda it was embedded into there minds as young people there unwilling to see research of medical value to some drugs and therapeutic value

For example Canada has completely legalised cannabis and it pretty sure shrooms and dmt are legal there aswell and all that’s done is benefit the economy because money doesn’t go in to the hands of gangs it goes into the country’s well being

And aswell it would put the population in much more safety as they would have a legal way to buy stuff and not of some dodgy guy you got the number of your friend Dave down the pub

The world is changing and the uk government seems reluctant to change with it

And they know things like shrooms and weed aren’t harmful becuase you can legally have the seeds but you can’t grow it. If they knew it was bad they would make possession of the seeds illegal they just can’t admit that they were wrong and that the war they have been fighting for the last sixty years was a huge waste of tax money had a negetive effect on the economy had a negetive effect on people as they would get a criminal record for smoking a bit of weed

They are all a bunch of stuck up pricks

Edit: mushrooms have spores not seeds

  14. In Portugal being a junkie is the least cool thing you can be. There are many other factors than simply "decriminalization" as to why it works, I think these videos are a bit simplistic.

  15. People thinking there is no help for addicts in the UK know nothing. Addicts can get treatment but the issue, which people are not willing to review, is if an addict doesn't want to stop then they won't . You can spend billions but this facts isn't going away.

  16. "There are 100x more drug induced deaths in the UK than in Portugal." Yeah, right, guess what, there are 100million times more deaths from suicide after watching BBC3 in the UK than in Antarctica. So following the flawed logic of this piece we need to ban BBC3 in the UK, at least those pieces with disingenuous use of statistics by druggies.

  17. I think you're missing the point.
Criminality and antisocial behaviour are a result of criminalisation of drug users and the stigma surrounding their use of consciousness expanding substances.

  18. 2:05 If their logic is that illegal drugs are harmful to health and society, then they’re hypocrites. There are plenty of things that cause harm to our health and society that are perfectly legal, including things they gain tax revenue from and measures they implement themselves. One such thing being benefit sanctions that effectively take away somebody’s basic resources like food, housing, ability to keep warm… and cause or worsen mental health problems. And for potentially years. For such ‘crimes’ as a bus running late and arriving at an appointment ten minutes late. I mention this example because they are directly causing starvation, suicide, homelessness, mental health problems, and criminalisation with this, as opposed to all the other things they just sit back and let the taxes roll in for.

They even use our taxes to subsidise the cost of their own alcohol consumption.

Let’s not kid ourselves that they actually care about our welfare. There will be other underlying reasons for their reluctance to stop punishing drug users… likely involving power, control, money, and their own skewed attitudes about what they deem to be just ‘bad behaviour’. A fair few of them or their party benefactors probably have a vested interest in the private security companies running our prisons, for a start.

  19. I think people are more Depressed in the UK that's why they turn to drugs or people like to party with drugs. They should take a different approach then locking people up.

  20. Yet alcohol does all of those things & its completely legal. The UK system is full of contridictions. They have no real argument. Yes there should be decriminalisation on drug users.

  21. I think the reasons for not decriminalising are more personal and down to beliefs. It should be, but I don’t think drugs will ever be decriminalised here in the UK. Spending money on resources to educate and help addicts doesn’t seem to be a priority in my opinion.
