No, Nick, they don't want to "protect" us from flavored nicotine. They want to "protect" us from flavored vapor (otherwise nicotin-free e-liquids would have to be exempt from the bans). Nicotine gums and sprays are also flavored! They contain mint/menthol, orange and lemon I believe (or is it citrus?). However, it's flavored and it contains nicotine but it's a spray, not vapor. So it's not "flavored nicotine", it's "flavored vapor" they want to "protect" us from!
Did you ever check out the list of ingredients in a Nicorette spray? I did. It contains: Nicotine (the main ingredient), PG, VG, flavor (in my case it was mint), sucralose, purified water, and a few chemicals I don't know because I'm not a chemist. The content of nicotine is so high that only 2 draws made me dizzy for almost an hour. And I was a 2 pack/day smoker at that time.
As soon as the kids find out how much easier they can get their head rush using a Nicorette spray, the Juul and it's 50 mg salt nic will be history. NRTs can be bought legally by any kid above the age of 12. How cool is that! For the kids that is. No issues if one's underage, no ID card necessary, no T21 BS. Mint-flavored nicotine spray that's even stronger than a Juul. And purchasing is legal. It can't get any better than that, in the kids eyes, of course.
The public health authorities of Northamptonshire decided to give every smoker a free starter kit and 16 (was it 16?) bottles of liquid – also for free – to help them quit smoking….
