Harmodion is a Drawbar organ and free reed aerophone instrument emulation, including Reed organ, Harmonium, Accordion and Bandoneon. It uses Additive Synthesis allowing to manipulate harmonically the sine waveform components to produce pitched sounds, as well as to individually detune those components to produce inharmonic timbres. Overview:

“I’ve had the idea for a real-time synthesis and instrument emulation software engine (engine) for some time now, but never found the time to sit down and start coding it until just recently.
It grew quickly, taking more time to develop than anticipated and ended up being more than I first intended.
I’ve included several other features as well, such as the extended reed organ model, a configurable band-pass filter, a pressure and velocity sensitive high-pass filter and much, much more.

I’ve endeavoured to bring the feel of a real old-school organ and bandoneon into your computer, as well as including the remaining features of a full harmonium.

When I say ‘old-school’ I mean the old way. The way people used to make instruments back in the 50s and 60s. There are lots of complexities to creating this feel (and sound) which I will explain in detail in the next few pages, but this should give you an idea of the design choices made so as to achieve a deep, rich and warm-sounding instrument, reminiscent of that from the 50s and 60s.

The features of this new instrument are nearly endless, and I’m a bit hesitant to suggest many features, as to suggest a poor design is to put the cart before the horse. You’ll be able to configure a lot of features in this new engine to suit your own playing style and instrumentation.

Some of the features of this instrument include:

LARGE library: I’ve chosen to go with a library of patches that make good use of the full range of the virtual sine wave, and then going on to split some of the high-frequency waves to produce darker timbres by making the high-frequency waves full-cycle harmonics.

VERY simple interface: from construction to usage, I’ve tried to make the interface as simple as possible, whilst still giving the most power over the number of controls in the interface.

Player: You’ll be able to hold, sustain and release individual keys on your keyboard, creating realistic harmonium sounds or chords.

High and Low-pass filters: this will enable you to control the timbre you are creating at the expense of the volume.

Linearity: these features, as well as other features, can be set to be linear in operation, or non-linear, to create timbres with less tonality

This VSTi is an algorithm driven software synthesizer with a full featured set of algorithms. It’s the perfect tool for beat making, sampled instrument programming and live performance. The legacy instrument also features automation and velocity controls as well as an extensive selection of controls for fine tuning your sound.

The legacy instrument also features pre and post processing and the percussive sections each feature a full set of controls to fine tune the attack and release of each sound.

Each section features a number of controls that allow you to adjust timbre, analog delays, modulation, distortion and effects.

Effects:
An effects module can be added to each drum track. This module will provide a plethora of great effects and features to create all kinds of variations and unique sounds.

Percussion / Blocks:
Each percussive section can have a number of different blocks added to it. Each block can have all sorts of effects added to it. The blocks provide an extensive range of effects, such as delay, modulation, chorus, flanger, reverb and more.

Air and Resonance Modulation:
For each percussion section an air modulation section can be added. This module allows you to control the air spaces in the room from a compact and easy to use module.

Volume and Resonance:
Each drum track can have its volume, resonance and decay controls set independently of each other.

Drum Engine:
The legacy harmonio adds a very powerful drum engine to the instrument. This will allow you to add any instrument sound including vocals and the capability of modeling real drum sets and the compression and filtering is identical to the Prodigy.

Local Backup:
If you lose a part on a track it will be copied to a separate sequence. This feature allows you to have your mix complete and only lose a few clicks at the end of the mix.

Performance Controller:
This performance controller allows you to set the oscillators to sync to a real metronome with adjustable snap back for exact accents. The amount of time the oscillators are triggered can be set in real time and it will sync the oscillators to any music in the host sequencer.

Send to Previous:
This module will send all sound output to the previous track. So you can use this module as a delay with just one unit of the pedalboard.
