One thing: I don't know if this person was referring to people from India who smoked opium in their "peace pipes" but I hope he was not referring to Native people from North America. I'm Lakota and enrolled at Standing Rock Sioux Tribe. My grandfather was a medicine person and had a pipe. He absolutely did not smoke opium. What is smoked in pipes is called canli and it's roots and leaves. In modern times, tobacco is also included but it was never opium. Please don't spread ignorance.
