I lam a 48 year old teacher, live in Oregon and now smoke almost daily in the evening. I find that it’s great for stress and anxiety relief and for controlling my chronic pain. What I find amazing is just how respectable cannabis has become and how quickly this has occurred. Many dispensaries are similar to wine stores, immaculately clean and well lit with bud tenders eager to discuss the quality, taste, and effect of the immense array of strains on offer. I regularly see professionals in suits and senior citizens shopping in these stores.
I find it astounding that 20 years ago the dozens of gallon jars of weed available in these dispensaries would have resulted in long prison sentences for all involved in selling the stuff and that I would would have been arrested for possession. It is appalling that huge numbers of people are still getting arrested and incarcerated in other states for what I can do safely and legally. We need to stop pouring money into the Drug War while ruining countless lives. What adults do to their own bodies is not the government’s business.

Here's what gets me: I have type 2 diabetes, gastroparesis, high blood pressure, and severe joint pains everywhere from when I worked at the lumberyard and injured pretty much everything. After the medications I've been on, the insulin, the blood pressure meds, painkillers, etc., marijuana and CBD products have been the ONLY things that have helped relieve any of my symptoms. It also has helped with my depression and anxiety, which I was previously on medications that nearly killed me and actually put me in the health crisis I'm in now. Hell, it even helps with my insomnia. I had a doctor try telling me that the weed is what caused my symptoms, when that was literally physically impossible. So it's not just politics, but actual medical professionals are lying about this shit. It's ridiculous.

The health benefits of wine are debated among scientists. Personally I use red wine when I cook. I have never even tried marijuana and I don't think I have missed something important. Once a couple of Jehova's witnesses knocked at my door and asked: "Are you happy?". I was not interested in their recipe for happiness, but neither do I think I have missed something important.

I wish it was not legal in CA. We had drug addicts move in back of us. They smoked so much we could smell the smoke in our house. They had parties. They were up smoking late at night.

I’ve heard the same story from other people. I knew a woman who had a dealer move next door to her. Her entire apartment & clothes smelled like pot. People were outside smoking all night long.
It’s a hell for you those of us who do not use drugs & reject that lifestyle.

While living in AZ the doctors I had gave me every kind of painkiller you can name. But when I asked about using marijuana? They said that if I did, they would call the cops on me! Now I live with many different ailments because of very stupid laws! Here's to another bowl !!!

The prohibition of marijuana actually stem from the end of alcohol prohibition. The federal department thought they would loose jobs if they had no bootleggers to chase. So they immediately strated a disinformation campaign on marijuana. Successfully outlawing all hemp and associated products for decade's. It is as stupid now, as it was then!

Honestly i hate marijuana. I hate the idea of using it, i hate the idea of legalizing it. That being said, i see the economic effects and removing the discrimination on certain population.
i live in CA so its too late for me to hold back the tide and now that it is legalized we can regulate it more. Also it allows for medical research to see if it has an potential medical use.
Now i am in favor of legalizing marijuana because it does allow for those things. Although this begs the question, should the same be said for other harder drugs like heroin or cocaine?
