In this episode we will show you how to upgrade or replace your dewalt string trimmer head. The original head that comes with the dewalt string trimmer is ok, …
Thank you for saving my day!! I deliberately avoid trimming my lawn because my DeWalt 40v trimmer keeps eating string. This new head from Echo (which you referenced) has made my lawn trimming a less stressful task.
Thanks for posting this! This video helped me swap out my head on my 60v Dewalt.
Thanks! I just changed out the head on my de Walt. Without your video I wouldn’t have been able to get it done.
Thank you so much! I recently bought the flex volt 60v and am mostly impressed with it. Power is great and it did a fine job taking down 2.5ft grass. The main issue that I'm having with the head is that the string snaps off and then it gets lost in the internals where the spool is. Immediately after watching, I went ahead and ordered this Husqvarna universal head from amazon in order to upgrade it. I've used a Husqvarna trimmer in the past and didn't have issues with string snapping like that – just didn't like using gas if avoidable. I'm thinking that DeWalt wants people to use their string. I didn't have issues with the string provided snapping off, but instead the issue with their string is that it seemed too soft and I ran through it quickly. The .95 Husqvarna string that I'm using might contribute to the snapping off with the DeWalt head. I'm sure science could be done. In any event – thanks again.
What are the benefits of this head?
Useful video…thanks!
I know that that old Dewalt head sucks and I hate it but what makes the other once better?
Do these change out steps and replacement spool work for the Dewalt trimmers with the larger head you mentioned?
Dewalt just discontinued the 40V Max line. 🙁
Thank you so much for clarifying that the newer models (dcst970x1s) comes with the new head. I was wondering why all of these YouTube videos were showing a different head mechanism…
