Overall, I think the combat is a decent change from the original Dark Souls. If you weren’t familiar with the original, which I personally can’t stand, I think it’s a great change. Whereas Dark Souls is a difficult yet fair game that can make you want to keep playing as you suffer for your mistakes, Elden Ring is much more fair and seems almost kind of easy. As with all Souls games though, it’s not for everyone, and you’ll find the same if you’re not careful.

This game is what I would call an anime RPG, or an RPG with a Japanese feel. There’s a lot more freedom with certain aspects of the game, such as path design. If you have a bit of patience, you can find some really good paths through the game with some complicated and unexpected turns of events. If you’re hungry for something more, you can always make your own way through the game, or maybe find some online maps or someone else’s. Overall, I feel that this game does a decent job of capturing the spirit of Japanese RPGs.

I found that some of the weapons are a bit too powerful, and thus overpowered. I think that this could be improved in the future. However, at least in the PVE version, I found that the power was balanced just fine, or perhaps less powerful than the original version.

However, I think that the game itself isn’t very deep. The fact that you can advance and increase your power level is great, but there aren’t any other meaningful quests, side quests, or other things to keep you hanging on. I’ve seen where there were side quests that offered rewards like forging new weapons or gear, but I found them to be excessively rare. There wasn’t a lot of story to it, other than the Elden Ring. If you’re interested in story, I think you’ll be disappointed, as there wasn’t much to it.

There is something about this game that I really liked, and that was the atmosphere and presentation of the game. The whole aesthetic and feel of the game was really cool, and the world itself just oozed quality. It really feels like an anime RPG, and it plays like one, too. The game also has a fantastic soundtrack that really compliments the game and adds a whole other dimension to the atmosphere and world. Overall, Elden Ring is just a fantastic game. It’s a great example of what modern JRPGs should strive to be.
