I think at least part of the reason for the O-Bahn popularity is due to the fact the busway itself is grade separate so it isn't always having to slow down like our trains/trams do. If we ever get our train/tram lines to the point where they're fully grade separated so they can provide passengers with higher speed travel I'm sure they'd be much more popular too. If they extend the O-Bahn in a way that means its has to deal with traffic it'll be interesting to see if that section proves to be as popular as the busway.
