It was very long winded even though it was a lovely story. My main thoughts are that if they had split up, how would he have got the ring back? The story was not as long as the engagement plan.

Nice story but what is important in any engagement or marriage is the lifetime that hopefully you will spend together and not some materialistic necklace or ring to show off. The amount of time you spend together is the signal that you are perhaps made to be together, for better or worse, and the joy of looking forward to being together. True happiness is what happens after the frills of ceremonies and honeymoons are over with. This includes showing off a ring or any other thing. It's all inside of us.
