I think that the major concern with contact tracing is that you’d have to have faith in the same government entities that messed this up in the beginning, and now with even more data and privacy information. If our government deserved more credit, then I think we’d be more inclined to embrace measures like contact tracing.
America decided to install a man with the intellect of a toddler and the ego of the size of Jupiter. A clown like that has the same probability of constructing sound national policy as I have of birthing a baby as a man in my fifth decade. I hear he cannot read intelligence briefings, but he likes the colors and pictures. They put mylar overlays on them so he can draw with his colored Sharpie set.

I think the information should be put out there and if there is problems with it, other people can openly dispute it. The problem with gate-keeping is that it just puts it underground and allow it to fester. Like you said, the doctors on the ground in China knew what was going but if we only rely on the governmental "official" information, the doctors would never be heard.
