Its real simple. Get a big pot, fill it up with soil, sow beans in it, trellis tem when they get growing, and pick beans often! In this episode, I’ll be doing something I …
Sorry for the unrelated question to this post Scott, but I would really appreciate your feedback.I am growing celebrity tomatoes this year ,they are neither determinate nor indeterminate.Would you prune it like indeterminate or let it bush out?
What do you do with sugar cane? I am in South Louisiana and had never thought about cane till now. You spiked my interest here.
OYR Gardner has done this in zone 5a or b
How many bean seeds are you planing on leaving to grow in your pot? Is that pot large enough for more than 1 bean plant ?
I've been binge watching many channels for the last 4 hours and after several of yours I'm definitely going to continue. I'm also in Harris county and within a subdivision. Our backyard is similar to yours. My husband had put in an above ground bed for me 14 yrs ago and we took it apart last spring and I'm now transitioning to commando tubs I purchased. I'm in a hurry to get my seeds and some container plants going. So much to do…….Many thanks for sharing your experience and knowledge.
I have never been able to
I'm in Colorado the ground is hard and cold just snowed again so just attempted to garden in my garage cause of temperature I plan to move outdoors when the temperature goes back up so in your opinion will this work
Your son and dog are adorable! I love how he "protects " you from the hose! After watching, I know what leggy beans are and, guess what? My beans and tomatoes are leggy…lol! At least i know. Pruning tips were helpful. Thx!
Ohhhhh, look at that beautiful sunshine! And your wearing shorts! YIKES, I am so jealous! I have on 2 pairs of pants, wool socks, thermal shirt, sweater and a quilted vest and I am sitting inside the house! The garden is looking GREAT!
I like that you didn’t go out to purchase anything for this. I see a lot of people that seem to be running out to get new supplies.
I can't wait for your trellising video! I really struggled last year with trellising my beans and even hollyhocks and sweet peas! Looking forward to it. 😎
Great video Scott. I can't believe your temperatures. We are still shivering here in Scotland. Stay safe and take care. Mags
YUR LIL DOG WAS TRYIN' TO GIT A DRINK FROM THAT SPRAY HOSE! HE IS TOO ADORABLE!
I steam long beans. They stay crisp and are so delicious.
Some people add a few drops of dish soap to the water when moistening the peat moss. Help it to absorb the water better
Are the beans you planted listed in the notes ? I didn’t see them and I am interested in the variety. Thank you. The dog is adorable
were can i find sugarcane at?
Who else is binge watching Scott during the quarantine?❤🌱
Last year I grew black eyed peas in a window box on my patio railing. Works great! In fact, I'm going to start twice the amount of black eyed peas today instead of waiting for later. 👍🏾👍🏾
What are you using for mulch?
No sound?
Have you ever grown Climbing Triple crop tomato?
What sort of temperature do beans tolerate? I'm in Dubai and have only been growing stuff since November on my apartment balcony. I brought some bean seeds back from a trip home to Wales a few months ago but not sure if they'll work out okay in our summers here. It gets up to around 120F some days late summer. Would appreciate the advice.
Love your videos Scott, keep it up.

I like gardening. I got a small plot too. Container gardening backons. I'm going to try adding peat moss to my potting mix and my own homemade compost. My crops get damaged by monkeys but I keep gardening.
Great video, thanks!
Great information. Also the community of people who add your comments to your videos. Thank you.
Home Depot has pickup & delivery, too. Just another option if you need supplies. 😁
I just replanted a few rattlesnake beans today. My clay soil is still sloppy wet from last weeks rains and most of my plants are dying. I'm going to try Thai Soldier Long beans.
I enjoy all your videos. Keep up the good work. I am jealous, I am in northern Louisiana and we have had so much rainfall that everything is soggy, 3 days of nice sunny, breezy, hot temps but more rain coming. Ground is like a huge soggy sponge so I wait to plant, have lots of starts to plant when it dries up, if it ever dries up. Stay safe Scott.
I always soak and innoculate my beans a day before planting, old habits never die…I don't think I have ever put a dry bean into soil and I'm 55! It's bound to be harder to germinate a dry bean I would think.
What is the smallest container size that you would recommend growing beans in?
Thanks for more ideas for pot growing.
The blue pots you used to plant your beans I just bought 6 of them and I was worried that they may not drain well I was thinking of drilling a drain hole about 5 inches from the bottom on one side. What do you think?
You can't go wrong with beans! Easy to grow, easy to store, and a good source for protein and calories. Those purple podded beans looked pretty .. but long beans are pretty cool, too 🙂
Good video, and those beans look like something that is in my future. I wish I had as much stuff outside as you, but being in 5b it isnt possible. But within a week the lettuce will be going out (its being hardened off) and other cool weather stuff will be direct sown.
I planted Kentucky Wonder on 3-8-20. Put six plants in a wicking tub. May be too many but I will see what happens. Like you, this year I am trying to diversify with different types of vegetables. Always just planted tomatoes and peppers. This time I added leafy greens, cucumbers, zucchini, squash, onions mint, cilantro and strawberries. Thought about carrots but I think I waited to long.
Same problem: not going out to get dirt. I’ve got half a bale of peat, one bag of soil and one bag of black cow. And some compost. Going to scrounge the rest from old dirt/pots.
Good info. Was that a crawfish hole?
Do you think I could do this with drying beans?
I use the same soil! I ordered grow bags and planted extra zucchini and spaghetti squash and wondering what else I should put in pots to increase our food output as much as possible.
Thanks for the video Scott, we’re so glad we found you. We have access to unlimited free coconut husk from the local greenhouses. We want to plant bucket: taters, tomatoes, garlic, carrots and peas. Can I (or should I)use that coconut fibre in all those buckets and what should I mix in with it? We’re 100% new to planting in buckets and can use all the advice we can get. We’re in southern Alberta so typically people plant 3rd week of May here but I could start some things in the house sooner if need be.
Another recommendation for you Scott is Asiangarden2table she has different kinds of seeds on her website and she has a YT too.

The dog!! He likes the water doesn't he(she)?
