I picked up New Bushel Crab Pot to steam crabs in at the Pasadena Fishing Flea Market. It is made of stainless steel 316L. I will talk about why I selected this …
The reason for the pin holes is leaving the crab liquid in the pot after the steam. Once the crabs are steamed up, remove the crabs and empty the liquid and rinse it out immediately! Do this and your pot will last forever.. A properly cleaned steam pot will be just as shiny inside as it is inside even after years of use. Had mine for 10 years now and its used 3-4 time a week as I sell crabs on the side (Yes I have a incense) . Best of luck to ya, Love your videos.
Take it to a welding shop. They may be able to weld it for you cheap.
You got a great deal on that pot. I have the same exact 304 stainless steel pot and its starting to develop pin holes as well. I'm got to get the same 316L pot if I can find a good deal on it. I can't wait to cook the first bushel this year.
Nice pot! I’ll have to check them out it just looks like it’s better made. Another question for you, where did you get the metal scoop net that you use for the trot line?
