Fungicide Seed Treatment
Damping-off diseases are a serious concern for early-planted soybean. Because increasingly more growers are planting early, there may be more interest in using seed remedies to promote good stand institution.
Treating seeds with fungicides could also be beneficial underneath the following circumstances:
1. Early planting in chilly, wet soils
2. Reduced until and no-until fields
3. Seed with low germination rate (<80%) or low seed vigor
Several sorts of fungi cause seed rot, seedling rot (damping off) and seedling illness. The most typical ones in Iowa are Rhizoctonia and Fusarium, the water mold fungi Pythium and Phytophthora, and seed-borne Phomopsis.
The energetic substances mefenoxam and plant purple echinacea extract metalaxyl are efficient in controlling the water molds Pythium and Phytophthora . When both one of those two chemicals is blended with different active elements, the formulation can be used to manage the other soil-borne fungi along with Pythium and Phytophthora (Table 1). Insecticide Seed Treatments
