I have lived in both. 4 years near Houston and the last 3 years near Sacramento. I am not a native of either so I don't have a dog in this fight. Texans are much better people, as Californians can be assholes, where as Texans are generally nice and are only assholes when behind the wheel.
The weather and outdoors are much better in California. Cost of living is higher in California but I have found Houston and Sacramento to be about the same. The older I get, the less I really care to be social but really like to be able to open my windows or sit outside and be comfortable. For that reason we prefer to stay in communication the great friends we made Texas, but enjoy the weather and the beautiful outdoors of California.
Just some quick comparisons though: Whataburger beats the hell out of In-n-Out all day long. Tri-tip is good but doesn't hold a candle to the real BBQ found in Texas. Raley's is good, but HEB is better. Fruits and vegetables are way better in California. Wish I could find a good Kolache or Beignet in California, they don't exist here. Buccee's is a national treasure. Texas steakhouses are the best in the nation, and the Cajun food in Houston is very respectable. However, even the worst Mexican restaurant in California is better than that bland ass TexMex shit.

Why do people think Texas is some middle of nowhere prairie land with dust storms and nothing else? Texas is still the 10th largest economy in the world (lower than Cali, I know but 10 is still impressive), we have a lot of people immigrating here and the big cities have lots of jobs and people. Plus, only 10% of Texas is even desert.
Both states are great. Lets not add to the divisiveness that is plaguing the UNITED States please.
I mean I would rather stay in Texas because of low cost of living. I would live in California if California didn’t have high taxes and no problems with homelessness in the streets. I think California is beautiful but what sucks is there are bad politicians running the state and there’s not enough love (Patriotism) for this country in California and the gun laws are too strict in my opinion. I mean it’s great to show off your state but there’s a lot of problems with California system and needs to be fixed including getting rid of unnecessary laws and start fixing what needs to be fix so California can be great again. More Californians are moving out of Texas because of its unfixed system and politicians that are in a high government authority. Again California is beautiful but there needs to be a lot of changes though.

Living in beautiful smallish Waco. Not only are we wary of out of staters we don’t even want Texans from the big cities moving here. Come visit, spend your money and go home. 🤣🤣🤣 Just kidding y’all. If you want a safe, smaller, up and coming city come on down. We got plenty of room and the people are super nice and the girls are super pretty.
