In a time before that day, the world was a godforsaken mess where most life was a grueling, meaningless existence. Creatures known as ‘Deschouls’ existed, each with their own unique abilities, but humanity was completely dominated by a large talking fish called the ‘Dread’ known as the ‘God of the Deep’.
In times of crisis, the Dread unleashed the Devourers, a massive horde of fish-like creatures, to do his bidding. They were the doom that befell the world. However, the Devourers were not aggressive and they were easily killed, their only motivation to live was to kill humans.
The human resistance, though small in number, were dedicated to the cause of the human race. Armed with supernatural powers and some heavy artillery, the Resistance fought with any means necessary to take down the Devourers. After many failed attempts, the resistance began to suspect that it was all in vain, that their efforts were being used to simply kill humans.
In truth, it was the Deschouls who were ‘using’ the Devourers, the God of the Deeps wanted only to stop their destruction, no matter what the price was. The Resistance decided to go all-out on the Devourers and allowed them to “burn in hell”. After three days, the Devourers began to rise from the depths of hell and kill humans.
Players are now free from the tyranny of the Dread, but the world is in turmoil as the Devourers continue to rise. Unfortunately, there is only one method of stopping them and this is through the use of a powerful Machine.
Testbed Terror is a single-player/co-op hybrid, where a computer-controlled human or human-controlled computer-controlled human must take on the role of the sole human survivor. The game revolves around the main character, who has to quickly make their way across the different environments and defeat the horde of Devourers that have risen from the depths. The Devourers cannot be revived and are violently beheaded by the player, though the player gains access to powerful weapons if the Devourers’ heads are destroyed before the player reaches them.
Testbed Terror is a stand-alone project. This means that every level is self-contained and one level does not directly affect another. New levels will be released every once in a while.
The game’s soundtrack is composed and produced by Markus Paletsar.
