alfred has licensed these various books to be distributed worldwide by warner brothers publications for a fairly penny. i actually received mine in the mail a couple of days ago but i am too lazy to download it to my computer right now. call me old fashioned. once again they have been published in a soft cover. i would not recomend a hard cover with other games because they are too flimsy but when it comes to games containing notes and sheet music on one page, then a hard cover would be adequate. i hope you find these books useful because they are very good.

the king tinkers jazz band drummer, composer, and educator mr. garibaldi has a long history of learning, teaching, and mastering the jazz of history. his musical roots go back to his childhood in new orleans where his father, a jazz violinist, taught him the art of improvised music. a world war ii flashback gave him the opportunity to join the us army drum corps while he was stationed in germany, and in 1952 mr. garibaldi began teaching drums and playing professionally with his brother, also a drummer.

its easy to understand why the guys of tower of power (tob) were on top of the funk music wave from the mid-seventies to the early eighties. the music of tob synthesized such elements as funky riffs, funky grooves, funk vocals, funky chords, funky melodies, funky arrangements, funk performance styles, and funk artistry. tower of power created a genre that had not previously existed – much like jazz went from swing and bebop to the cool jazz of the seventies, and disco and rap went from disco to hip hop in the 1980s. tobs jazz-funk roots were laid down by their founder emilio castillo, who also wrote two books and lots of funk music. while the guys of tob later branched out into genres such as hip hop and rap, their jazz-funk roots survived and are often intertwined with their jazz-funk compositions. this book starts with the tob jazz-funk roots of the seventies, and works its way into the eighties and nineties for the funk and soul based songs. the book includes lyrics, chord symbols, chord progressions, and arrangements from some of the singles, albums, and videos from tob. a short-chord count-based songwriting approach is used in the lessons to allow for greater understanding, while still making the instruction easy to follow.
