In the 1980s, the price of AutoCAD and AutoCAD LT licenses was a primary reason for many small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs) and design firms to choose the desktop, rather than the mainframe or minicomputer, for their CAD application.

This change in graphical user interface (GUI) design was seen by some as a trend toward obsoleting AutoCAD LT. Many 3D and 2D CAD users, such as architectural firms and automobile companies, preferred the familiar look and feel of desktop CAD and the freedom of the 2D environment. Other companies were not so concerned with the type of drawing they were working with, but instead wanted a streamlined way to store their drawings, so they chose to develop their own proprietary file formats and editor applications.

Can the combination of intraoperative coronal angle and C2-3 sagittal Cobb angle better predict the actual deformity correction in patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis undergoing Cotrel-Dubousset instrumentation?
Retrospective analysis. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the role of the intraoperative coronal angle (CA) and C2-3 sagittal Cobb angle (C2-3S) in the prediction of the actual deformity correction in patients with adolescent idiopathic scoliosis (AIS) undergoing posterior correction with Cotrel-Dubousset (Cotrel-Dubousset) instrumentation. The CA and C2-3S were measured using true lateral radiographs taken at the end of posterior correction with Cotrel-Dubousset instrumentation in 25 consecutive patients with AIS with a mean age of 13.8 years (range, 9-18 years) and a mean preoperative Cobb angle of 49.7 degrees (range, 22-75 degrees) (AIS group). The correction rate (CR) was calculated as (T1-T0)/T0 x 100. The mean CR was 46.6% (range, 18.6%-67.9%), which was achieved during a follow-up of 5.5 years (range, 3.5-10.5 years). The CA and C2-3S were significantly correlated with the CR (r = 0.80 and r = 0.88, respectively; P < 0.01). However, the correlation coefficients were not significant (r = 0.32 and r = 0.21, respectively) when compared with the actual deformity correction. The mean CR was greater in patients whose CA was 0 degrees (67.9%) or more than 0 degrees (67.4%) than in those whose CA was less than 0 degrees (46.9%) (P = 0.04). Similarly, the mean CR was greater in patients whose C2-3S was 23 degrees (67.8%) or more than 23 degrees (67.9%) than in those whose C2-3S was less than 23 degrees (45.1%) (P = 0.01). The mean CR for the patients whose CA and C2-3S were less than the 75th percentile (44.7%) was significantly less than the mean CR for those whose CA and C2-3S were more than the 75th percentile (65.4%) (
