Auto Repair Shop Facts, Don’t Get Scammed!
Well, guess what. Chefs and mechanics don’t think the same way! No doubt, were you to take your own fish into the restaurant to ask for a cheaper meal you would quickly be shown the door. However, this is not the case when you need car parts.
I’ve found that my John Deere is easy to work on, and the manual provides great direction on how to repair it. Because John Deere is such a popular brand, finding parts is not hard at all…but finding affordable John Deere parts can be a bit more difficult. The dealers will have all John Deere parts you’ll ever need and can easily order it for you if they don’t currently have it in stock. They may even carry some used parts that will work great for whatever your repair. When I need a part for my John Deere garden tractor, I usually start by calling the dealer first to ask if they have any used parts. If not, I then ask how much it would cost for the new replacement part and jot the amount down. By doing this, I also get the exact name of the part I need and write this down as well.
Looking at all the vintage car parts in catalogues can be really exciting but how can you be sure that what you are paying for is genuine? As with vintage cars, these parts are expensive as well. Check up on the dealer’s credentials if possible.

A common grade of engine oil is 10W30. Select the size of oil container your vehicle usually uses for a refill. Mine usually uses about four litres of oil. You will need an oil filter wrench that will fit your size of oil filter and a box end wrench to fit the size of oil pan bolt your vehicle has. They are commonly about one half of an inch. Be sure you have a variety of wrenches available around that size. You will need a metal pan about six inches deep which should be large enough to hold more than four litres of oil. These are readily available at hardware stores. You will need some newspapers and rags to wipe your hands on.
Does your supplier deliver? Some work sites, such as mines, can be located in remote areas. Look for a supplier that can arrange delivery of the parts you require.
Some people have a misconception about aftermarket auto parts. They believe that, if a part isn’t made from the original manufacturer, then it’s cheap. Nothing can be further from the truth. In actuality, the aftermarket companies put a great deal of effort into making the parts. In fact, many of them specialize in making performance car parts, even more so than the original manufacturers!
Some junkyards also sell used auto parts online leaving an option to you to find your required one easily from home. You can easily take that option to manage a good used one for the maintenance of your car. If you spend a little bit time online, you may find some junkyards selling auto parts at a very low cost.
