I commend the Legislature for addressing this issue. Here in Florida we needed to pass a constitutional amendment to approve medical marijuana since the legislature was incapable of taking action.

The real issue here is not “cannabis” per se because the evidence is clear 1) cannabinol derivatives assist in pain management and 2) recreational use changes the state of consciousness producing feelings of happiness and exhilaration. Moreover, I suggest instead of only “decriminalizing” in Hawaii we step it up to legalization in Hawaii as well. Reasons are 1) state revenue bringing growth to Hawaii’s lagging economy through production and export, yes jobs my friends, also production and export would lead to a better more refined product. 2) tourism, yes the times they are a changing, and again it equates to more jobs! 3) incentives toward education, agribusiness degrees, irrigation and poison licensure would give Hawaii’s people the hope of a brighter future.
In addition, I strongly believe the fore mentioned benefits far surpasses any arguments against. While I am a proponent of decriminalizing as well as legalization of cannabis I personally do not partake, not because its illegal but because of choices.
Let me end on this note, people of the great state of Hawaii, lemme just state for your consideration: if those tired yesterday’s legislators won’t step up their game and do what’s right for Hawaii and/or its people then y’all have a choice, I suggest y’all utilize your votes in the best possible way. Yes vote them out of office and remember those politicians work for you enacting policies which should benefit the many not the few! People of Hawaii you are the change, be the change for your generation and for generations to come🤙🏼
While you vet the situation please keep in mind other situations for example.. Population growth/housing, Mental Illness in veteran homeless and under 18 homeless. And then new toys . First we must clean up the room we have . I think the big Island has grown to where it is getting small. Please consider slowing out of country investors and national corporations for land ownership. Or make it crazy money to lease for 50 years… but not own.?.
