Marijuana Beginner is a plain-English guide to cannabis for adults in the United States. We started in 2019 with one goal: help people who are new to marijuana understand the basics, the laws and the safe, legal way to get started, without the jargon.

How we keep it accurate

Cannabis law changes fast. Every state guide shows a “Last verified” date and links to the official source we checked it against: state cannabis control boards, statutes and health department medical programs. When we can’t confirm a detail, we say so and point you to the official site instead of guessing. We review the state series at least once a year and whenever a major law changes.

• We don’t sell cannabis, and we don’t help anyone buy it illegally or cross state lines with it.
• We don’t give medical or legal advice. Our guides are general education. See our disclaimer.

Marijuana Beginner is for adults 21 and older, or 18 and older with a valid medical marijuana recommendation where state law allows it. If you’re under 21, please leave this site.
