  1. Curry leaves don't give "curry" it's color. Tumeric gives curry it's color. Most curries don't even have curry leaves. They should though, the leaves are delicious.
I've been growing a curry tree in my house for 4 years. I have not used fertilizer ever. I water it once a week and it flourishes. I only use the leaves that fall off naturally. After 2 years, a new branch grew out of the main branch (trunk?) and is now just as large as the main branch.
I keep it by the window in indirect sun. I have about the same size pot as the video. I wonder if I should put it in a bigger pot? It is a tree after all.

  2. The curry leaf is not what curry powder is made of, even in part, nor does it give Indian curry its color. Whole leaves are put in the curry, and truly does add a lot of flavor. Many Indians pick out the curry leaves when eating curry. Others scarf them down.

  3. I have planted a small curry plant in miracle grow potting mix, recently it stopped growing and some it’s leaves are having brown spots. The soil seems to be quite soggy even if I water it weekly. Please let me know what kind of soil would be best for it.

  6. I finally got my hands on a curry tree, but it's struggling. It almost died. I got it at 8 inches, it died back to 3 inches, but now it's back to 8 inches.

I have it in bright shade, the Hawaiian tropical heat can be intense, but I'll try to place it in direct sun.

It looks similar to the neem tree, and the neem tree grows well in direct sunlight.

Hi. I would like to know how do you preserve this curry tree during winter in northern states. We are located in Chicago and we tried storing indoors but it lost all its leaves by April-end and still weather outside is fluctuating between 35 F – 55 F.

  9. I have a small plant that was gifted to us and it's not growing. I just repotted the plant and put it in full sunlight area outside (Oklahoma City are). It does not appear to have any disease or bugs. Any recommendations on how I an stimulate growth?

  12. I love this plant but mine keep dying and I have trouble for years! Will need to keep coming back to this video to see what I'm doing wrong… Got a dozen seedlings growing and one bigger plant but it's quite slow growing and not many branches.

  13. Luke, you have my heart. I totally agree with what you said. I’m Indian and make curries everyday, twice a day mostly. I can’t do without these curry leaves in my curries. Also you can add curry leaves while making homemade ghee. Smells divine and tastes delicious. Promotes hair growth too along with so many additional benefits. Back home we have tons of plants growing in our backyard, tender and fresh. Gosh I miss it.
I buy a pack of leaves for $0.99 at my local Indian grocers every week. I’m going to try to grow them from seeds I have bought from India recently. Fingers crossed.

  14. I looked all over for a Curry Leaf Plant a few years ago and could not find it. So I went to the grocery store and found a few packs of curry leaves that had some 6+ inch stems on the leaves. I took them home and rooted them. Three years later, I have a 2 1/2 or 3 foot tall bush. Proud of that little bush, but can't help to think that it should be bigger with more stems growing out of the soil.

  15. This guy does not know what he is talking about. There are no curry leaves in green curry. Curry leaves are used only in a few dishes, most of which are not even curries. The video does not even include a description of planting and growing it. Done with white guys pretending to know what they are talking about. How is this channel even a thing, if this video is anything to go by?

  16. Green curry paste is usually thai, not indian. And indian food that is really green is usually cilantro. Cilantro is used in almost everything, then curry leaf, then mint for specific dishes.
