  1. Hi, I have a problem with my orchid. I was given the beautiful plant from a friend. I have replanted it in a clear pot that I cut holes into so air can get in, water out. I used the proper potting material for orchids. But now the roots seem to be dieing. I don't over water. The big beautiful leaves are still green and beautiful. How do I help my plant? I have other air plants, they all are good.

  2. hey, i have an star orchid thing xD i cant figure out what it is. i saw some bulb orchids in ur videos, but for me they all look quite similar.
mine has very thin roots and has 3 of this bulb things, and where the blooms where on, the stick is totally dry.
it had star like blooms in wine red and yellow ish
and the pot is very sturdy, but colored and not see through….

so should i repot it to see how it is? its in a mix of tree bark and coconut shell and i thiiink, im not sure, another bulb has a liittle thing at the bottom behind a dry leave that was directly at the bulb, that looks like a new blooming stick (sry i dont know how its called, like the orchid itself xD )
i put the 2 orchids to the bright indirect sunlight in the shower, and the normal white ?phalaenopsis? orchid is blooming again 🙂
just rain water, if the white one is dry and yes. i think thats all info needed xD

  3. Thank you for detail descriptions!
I think that reason for using plastic pot is light going through.
Well, when you put it in second decorative pot you practically block the light.
Is it a right things to do?

  4. I have an orchid with pseudo bulbs but instead of growing bulbs horizontally it’s growing vertically. So all the roots never reach the pot or media. It dries out really fast. How do you keep this from happening. I divided the orchid so it would fit in the pot again.

  5. Great timing Danni, thank you. Can you pleased advise is pine bark, from garden centre would work for phals? Im struggling to get decent stuff and my phals are in desperate need of repoting. 😁

  6. I have an orchid with bulbs like one you showed in this video, don’t know what it is but I have had it about 5 years and has no rebloomed since I brought it home. I have other orchids, they bloom every year, just not that one. I fertilize, the leaves are a pretty green, just no roots. Do you have any suggestions?

  7. i know you use cinammon at other times – what determines whether you think the pros outweigh the cons? Thank you. Your videos are so helpful and you are a charming mentor into orchid care.

  8. I've been given 2 philopsis i think but they look very similar to what you was showing
I know nothing about them but they're flowering at the moment and they look pot bound when should i repot them?
    What medium to use?
At the moment they're in that plastic pot that they sell them in
Should i keep them inside and where
It's autumn at the moment here going into winter
    Help thank you

  9. Hey! Could you make an update about short and stubby leaves? Ive been having this issue for about a year and now one of the orchids that has this is growing a keiki! Im gonna have grandplants and im worried

  10. Hey everyone! So… I really need and would greatly appreciate some guidance here…
If the knowledgeable and experienced owner of this channel could answer this that'd be amazing! : )
But in the case she's too busy to answer here, I pose this to anyone here that may know:
Can one use Sphagnum moss that developed white mold? It's from a fresh batch. It's been spread out for over two weeks and no longer smells of mold. Would this potting mix that also contains pine bark, hydroton, sponge rock and cork chips be safe to use to repot my orchids?
[According to https://www.pthorticulture.com/en/training-center/presence-of-mold-on-growing-media/, it shouldn't be a problem. However, I just want to confirm with someone experienced with this stuff because I don't want to screw up my plants.]

  11. I have a question. The root of my orchid grew below on the drainage hole and the sleeve of the root is removed leaving a thread like root exposed. Should I cut it?

  12. You said that you're not going to save the Paraphalaenopsis' pot because of the root, but there's a possibility to get rid of the plastic that may damage the root, so you're going to have a bigger hole at the bottom of the pot. But it's still saveable 😃😃 almost zero waste! Thanks for your work Danny ❤️

  13. Hi MissOrchidGirl,
I have watched nearly all your videos on vandas, but I cannot find the answer to my 2nd question so I would like some advice. I got a vascostylis plant about a month ago and we haven't had many sunny days so it hasn't grown much. I water it by soaking it's roots every 3 days and leave it to hang dry but I don't see any new root tips growing in the last month. I was wondering what more can I do to stimulate root growth? I also recently noticed a brown spot with a yellow area around it on 2 of the new leaves that are still growing. It seems to be close to the crown. I'm not sure if it's crown rot or not as I haven't dunked the whole plant into water before. Can you guess what it might be? What should I do to prevent it from spreading?

  14. Hi Danny….I have a question regarding my dendrobium phalaenopsis orchids….is it normal for new canes to grow from the top of older(a year or more years older) dormant canes?

  15. It's true with a strong orchid it's ok to repot it. I'm terrified of transplant shock so I will only up-pot from now on though. Xoxo Leah

  16. Thank you Danny for lovely videos! I just have phals but I'm starting to buy one every 6months now. I never read about orchids before but I liked them a lot. The new one I bought was so sick looking in the M&S that I couldn't stop myself and got it and also made a complaint in the shop about how they were treating their flowers. I did what I thought I should do and then started to watch vids just in case. I am so glad I found your channel! It answered on all my questions so far and probably made me fall in love in 2 orchids you have :p

  17. Hi Danny. Great topic. I personally cover the ventilation hole when I see that root is aiming to the hole and when it passes I open it again. But of course I have only 50 orchids😂

  18. Hi Dany! I have a big phal with a flower spike and a branch off that spike, and I was waiting for the last two flowers to drop on the branch off the main spike so i could trim it all the way down, then that branch started growing another branch! it was two inches long before i even noticed, but the other branch is almost completely empty now, and the main spike is also bare of flowers. can i trim the empty spike to a node above where the first branch grows out? or will that kill the new branch growing off the old branch? sorry if it's a little confusing!

  19. Hi Dani, you mentioned your aquarium in this video… I was on your second channel lately looking at you planted aquarium videos and would LOVE an update on your setup! Aside from the orchid hobby I have started a nano scape and love your videos❣️❣️❣️

  20. Great video! I always enjoy hearing what you have to say.
    P.S.
If you ever see Cochleanthes aromatica for sale, buy it. It has the most amazing fragrance of any orchid I've smelled. To me it smells like sweet buttery vanilla and citrus, and it's fragrant both day and night.

  21. I have a Orchid that is growing another Orchid on the flowering stim with green leaves that another Orchid is growing what do I do for it

  22. This is slightly off topic, but still about roots. What can I do to stop roots from rotting away after repotting? I don't have this problem with phals or other orchids with larger roots, but I definitely have this problem with oncidium alliance or something like a maxillaria. Any tips? Thanks!

  23. Love, love your videos. This was a great video full of info on how to save the roots. Thank you. Have a real great day and I hope you had a great weekend.
