I did a leek before watching this video. I actually removed the existing roots entirely before re-rooting because the old roots harbour dirt. It's totally rooting (2"-3" roots), and perhaps overly optimistically, I'm expecting a green shoot anytime now! lol
I may not be able to complete this project because my husband stole my favourite screwdriver.
but, the part of the leek you cook and eat is the white part. I don’t see a benefit in buying a leek to cut it and grow another one. You don’t eat the green leaves

Hi, I've never grown any type of onion before. Our attempt at tomatoes was not good. But someone brought us a leek and i decided to put the root end in water. Now we have a bright green shoot coming out. Lucky coincidence, your video on onions came up. And then I found this one. I wish i had seen you harvest the leek and onion. I.m confused because we only use the white part. You look like you harvest the green of the leek. Or does it branch off into a separate leek?

I live in the Inland Empire in Southern California so it is very sunny and dry climate. Also how much water should I give them if they will be in containers. 10 sec video prolonged into 5 agonizing mins….this way of growing leek is rubbish..after planting, you will only get one fruiting and that is it..the amount produced will only feed a rabbit…there are 1000s of such videos online and they are all worthless..

mine seems to start dying the 2nd day, should I keep it where it will get sunlight?
Once it has grown and you harvest it, can you repeat the process? Ie, will it keep reproducing or will it be past it’s best?
After it has grown and ready to harvest, can you just cut the top off and leave the roots to regrow?

Hey, you're the plant genius: I have tiny little baby leeks growing (Bulgarian Giant Leek). How deep can I (should I) bury the little babies? (toothpick diameter) I know you bury to blanch… but not sure how soon i should start burying them deeply
