  2. I did a leek before watching this video. I actually removed the existing roots entirely before re-rooting because the old roots harbour dirt. It's totally rooting (2"-3" roots), and perhaps overly optimistically, I'm expecting a green shoot anytime now! lol

  3. but, the part of the leek you cook and eat is the white part. I don’t see a benefit in buying a leek to cut it and grow another one. You don’t eat the green leaves

  4. Hi. I apologize if I haven't read through all the comments and you gave the answer. Once in dirt, should I leave inside or outside? And if I keep cutting green, will it keep growing green again and again?

  5. Hi, I've never grown any type of onion before. Our attempt at tomatoes was not good. But someone brought us a leek and i decided to put the root end in water. Now we have a bright green shoot coming out. Lucky coincidence, your video on onions came up. And then I found this one. I wish i had seen you harvest the leek and onion. I.m confused because we only use the white part. You look like you harvest the green of the leek. Or does it branch off into a separate leek?

This will be a fun thing to learn during quarantine. Thank you so much for your video. I subscribed and look forward to easy growing projects

  6. I'm doing this since a couple of days. It has grown a bit. Can't wait for it to grow roots, so that I can plant it!

  7. Thanks so much we had some leeks and its become a nice project with my family. If I could get your suggestion on where to place them once I put them in soil. I live in the Inland Empire in Southern California so it is very sunny and dry climate. Also how much water should I give them if they will be in containers. I appreciate your help and look forward to your videos.

  8. 10 sec video prolonged into 5 agonizing mins….this way of growing leek is rubbish..after planting, you will only get one fruiting and that is it..the amount produced will only feed a rabbit…there are 1000s of such videos online and they are all worthless..

  9. I appreciate this video so much, you made it so simple and explained how long to leave the leak in the water- which other videos didnt and left me confused. Thank you!

  11. Hello! 🙂 i'm a newbie to gardening. Just wanna ask if the potted green onions/leeks need to be under direct sunlight or not? Also for the ones that are just in water? Thank you!

  12. Wow great timing, I just made a pot of cock-a-leekie soup yesterday. I fished the root end out of my compost pile, I've got to try this, I hope it works. These leeks are sooo good.

  13. Hey, you're the plant genius: I have tiny little baby leeks growing (Bulgarian Giant Leek). How deep can I (should I) bury the little babies? (toothpick diameter) I know you bury to blanch… but not sure how soon i should start burying them deeply

  14. Interesting video. I've never bought leeks at the store let alone try to grow them. Do they taste like onions?

  15. Thank you for all you do😊 Just found your channel last night and am a new subscriber! Excited to start growing my own soon🌱🌱🌱
