Thanks for this. It’s also super important to make sure you’re getting enough Vitamin D. About 40^ of the people in the US are deficient. Vitamin D is super important for muscles, tendons, joints,, and reducing inflammation. I’m vegan and I learned this the hard way!
I got what I think is tendonitis in my left index finger middle knuckle, I remember practicing Van Halens Ice cream Man solo with the big stretches and after a month or so, it started, months later, every time I play even light stuff, it hurts to play, I usually try to ignore but sometimes it turns me off playing.
I've been having joint stiffness in my left index finger in the middle joint for about 2 weeks. I love playing guitar mostly all the time for sometimes countless hours a day and I'm not sure what to do. It hasn't really effected my playing but I'm extremely worried that one day it will. And it clicks whenever I move it up and down. And suggestions maybe pls??

I suddenly started with pain in my index finger on the fretting hand. Could not curl the finger properly and struggled to use that hand for carrying or fastening safety belts, let alone play guitar. Had this for a few weeks now. I only practiced 30 mins a day, but it could of been caused by some other activity. I don't know what the problem is yet but I'm going to see my doctor. Be careful not to assume it'a tendonitis because it could be something else, even Arthritis. As the video says, see your doctor. Look after your hands!
Ive had a few instances of wrist pain and forearm pain. normally I've put playing and lifting weights on hold for some time, and that has helped. But for guitar players, does it happen most often in the fretting side og the picking side hand/arm?
im screwed ever since i discovered plug ins for my guitar ive been playing much much more, and my left elbow looks permanently swollen i may have to check for a tear at docs, i hope not
my doctor kept telling me to fuck off and 2 years later it has gotten worse if anything.
I have this right now 🙁 I was doing way too much exercises with bad technique.. 🙁

Admit it, you read that in thr accent
I'm not sure if it's tendonitis that I have, but I'm left handed and I type on my laptop a lot and also play guitar right handed. My marriage finger in is pain by the knuckle area
We will try everything…except not playing. I have suffered and continued to play for a year at least through cortisone shots, therapy, ice, stretching, every special exercise that's supposed to cure it, wrist braces, posture braces. Im so depressed but have finally decided to stop playing and see what happens. Otherwise surgery and 3 months of recovery is my last hope
Great advice.
I never had real tendonitis but just the early signs of it and what helped me allot was a device called powerball. Its basicly a gyro with counter weight that helps allot ( https://powerballs.com/ ) it shure helped me and also a good warm up and cool down exercise will help prevent future injuries. Love your channel man.
Informative! I’ve had to stop playing a month ago.
He reminds me of Arnold Schwarzenegger!!! if he played guitar haha cool video thanks 🙂
Just realised the extra recent comments on here. Seriously guys, try collagen – it's about the best thing for tendonitis. It works in two ways: 1. pain-relief, almost instantaneous, and 2. healing; strengthening the collagen-matrix in your tendons. Collagen makes up most of the tendons and is hard to get in any decent amount from diet without supplementing it. Combine that with massage which signals anti-inflammatory cytokines and is also great for pain-relief. Up to 60, 70, possibly 90g a day during the healing process, and in 15g doses. 15 is optimal as a big recent study found it gives a bigger boost to the amino acids that help you heal and become stronger. The same study also showed a chart where those levels quickly rise and then reach the peak 1 hour after ingestion from normal levels, and gradually reduce after a further hour. So that 1 hour peak is when you should massage, and hit the stretching especially (if you're at that stage).
Then when you're at a stage where stretching doesn't aggravate it, stretch for 5-10 mins a day, full-range of motion stretches. This will strengthen the tendons significantly beyond what they would normally otherwise be. And it's cumulative – after one year of stretching and combining with collagen (which gives a synergistic double-effect), you'll be MUCH stronger for it. I can do a lot more now than I ever could even before my 2-year long severe tendon injury that I thought I'd end up having surgery on.
I have a problem. I love guitar and I love playing tennis. I have now golfer´s elbow (I play tennis with the left hand and play guitar as a rightie, so my left arm is really sore). Any feedback is helpful.
I had practice In alternate picking..my full speed is 110 (16th note) and I always practice 90/100 BPM and my hands becomes pain..why????
Danke Bernth! This video and the statement "apparently, all guitar Tendonitis cases are curable" made me feel a lot better about my condition. I'm a bass player though…
This has ruined my life. My plan was to be a guitar teacher. I have a music degree. Now I work in a phone shop. Are there any legit specialists for guitar tendinitis because ive come to the conclusion that the national health service in my country just don’t know how to fix it.
Danke für dieses Video Bernth! Super wichtiges Thema.
