How to Grow Tomatoes in Containers, Pots or Buckets. Container Gardening.
In this video Brian is planting tomatoes in a five gallon bucket, or any container. A few tips you need to know to have success growing tomatoes in containers.
I live in Phoenix Az and I cannot find any Rock Phosphate. What can I use in lieu of RP? Also would you recommend cedar chips at the bottom of the pot and on top of the soil? Thank you for the helpful video.

For my garden I save all clean eggshells. When I have a lot, I crush them with the thing to mash up potatos, until they are really tiny pieces. Really small. I do it while watching gardening videos… eggshells contain 26 minerals and trace minerals, including much calcium. I love the fact that this is not one more expense.😍😎😄
I use a cal-mag spray regularly
What can you do if you were so anxious to get your plants in the ground that you missed soil additives. Can anything added and watered in after the fact?
Is it safe to use aluminium container or bucket
What is the difference between Rock Dust and the product you used. I know vegatables draw the minerals out after a season and must be replaced in a raised bed for the next crop. Is rock dust and mulch enough?

This is different from a raise bed garden, right? Or should I worry more about getting the calcium? We have rabbit manure to feed the tomatoes with, but I don't know what more calcium might be needed than the oyster shells that we mixed into our super soil mix. Will they want more than the average plant?

I don't add calcium other than what's in the Tomato-tone because our tap has way too much limestone in it.

Thanks for information on the gypsum and epsom salt in the potting mix. Great stuff. Looking to extend my growing time in an enclosed winter space and see how it goes.
Love your videos. Thanks. I had all my containers ready for tomato plants which didn't germinate – my kids drowned them I think. So now I have a chance to prepare my containers properly. I have the nappies (great tip), calcium and epsom salts. Any substitutes for rock phosphate? Thanks.
Great video Brian. I tried starting my tomatoes in Solo cups, putting about 1/3 seed starter in the cup then putting in the seed. I don’t use grow lights since our temperatures are already in the 60’s at night. They were started outdoors with about 6 hours of direct sun. The seedlings are really stunted and I think because they are so deep in the cup they don’t get enough light. I am afraid the same sort of thing will happen if I initially plant deep the seedlings deep into a 5 gallon pot. Have you ever experienced any issues like that?

Hi, need some advice on growing zucchini in a pot (bush type) and in a vegetable bed. What kind of soil does it like to grow in? Should I fertilize? Does it like lots of water or a dry soil? Any info appreciated. Thanks.
Love Tomato Tuesday! I had a couple of tomato plants in pots last year that were showing signs of blossom end rot. I crushed up tums and sprinkled on top of the soil. No more end rot for the rest of the season.

When we're those tomato hooks releasing that you showed us a few weeks ago? The ones for extending plant lengths.
First time growing tomatoes this year on my balcony in pot and i choose cherokee purple but i wonder can i direct main plant stem in circle, or many circles because i dont have stripe where main stem would grow in height! I was thinking using plastic cage for support and then direct main stem around that cage just to plant become shorter in size. Something like bonsai, but offcourse i would not cut main stem, i just want to direct it to where i wannt so plant in the end became more "bushy" rather tall. I hope you understand my english is bad.thnx

I always put a dish that is made to go under pots to help retain a little water in case I am late for a watering. It also helps contain some of the nutrients that can be absorbed back into the Buckets. I put pea gravel in the tray to stop mosquitoes.

Growing marglobe tomatoes in fabric pots and I am also trying beefsteak tomatoes in a 20 gallon fabric pot. So far so good!
Thx for the tips. I already have a tomato plant going on a pot, doing well so far, but now I’m concern since it’s not on a 5 gallon container. Let’s see how long it stays alive. 😔
