  1. soooo….. does having multiple imaginary friends past the age of sixteen is considered schizophrenia? i know a girl that always talks to herself and whenever she's sad a different voice will come in and try to sooth her. she did so in her classroom multiple time and many people called her crazy. her own parents and friends thinks there's something wrong with her.

  2. Schizophrenia runs in my dad's side of the family and an aunt of mine died years ago during one of her episodes that occured during a commute home. I'm very scared to have it because it seems like it doesn't skip a generation. Sometimes I hear sounds that aren't there or see very vivid "friends" when I'm exhausted. Guess I'll just find out the next time my body generates all new cells. This was a good thing for me to stumble upon. Thank you so much.

  3. Thank you for this video, really. My father was diagnosed with schizophrenia when he was 18. His parents disowned him and called him insane. Many people don’t realize how serious it is, or don’t even know that it’s a disorder. Instead they call these patients “insane” or “maniacs”

  4. This syndrome did you know is majority male and very rare actually. It's like getting hit by lightning three times in three days for women to be afflicted. Seems numbers of afflicted have increased unusually with said knowledge of. What's going on?

  5. this made me shed a few tears. In our country, little to none get the medical treatment they need for mental illnesses like these because of the fear of being seen as "crazy" or "abnormal". And people with mental illness are sometimes labeled as people who are "faking it". And adding that therapy is incredibly unaccessible, it's no surprise that people are scared or avoid it at all costs. I hope in the near future, in schools, offices, work spaces, and communities will help in breaking the stigma through sharing the right information and by making therapy accessible. loved this vid!! made me realize what I really wanna be when I grow up♡

  6. Seeing videos like this really emphasizes my desire to be some where in Psychology as a career. I get very conflicted because of my love and passion for Music and Arts, but when when I keep researching more studies on the human mind, I get very interested in it. I also just did a class on Psychology, so there's that. Granted, I also am very interested in a lot of other things.

  7. My brother have schizophrenia and passed away recently, likely due to the hallucination that he had.
Lesson we learnt while cleaning his room, please take good care and spend a lot more time with the patient. We did spend more time with him but it's just not enough as we assuming when he didn't act funny, he's normal but it's not. A lot of odd behaviours have been a sign. Please take good care of schizophrenia patient especially when he/she is your family member.

  8. I'm schizophrenic and I used to hate myself and being different, lost friends but the older I got, the better it got
Now I'm afraid of being like everyone else
It's a part of me and the first step to healing is accepting who you are and finding people who love your difference , not despise them

  9. TedEd is like a knowledge tree, always growing more to for us to learn and sharing it with others, without it I would not know the suffering these type of people go through.

  10. Sure psychosis is bad but dehumanizing by providing help through pills that you thin help you because you feel less human after all those doctors
