I wish I had known earlier what I now know about whole-food plant-based eating – many years of standard western diet ended up with colon cancer and I am now a gutless bag lady for life. Still,, better late than never – I’m maintaining a really healthy weight and enjoying my food immensely, and also the adventure of learning a new method of cooking after so many years!   5. Instead of adding hemp seeds and non-dairy milk we just add more hemp seeds and water as this (along with the dates) is what you make homemade hemp milk with. We regularly make hemp milk. You don't have to strain it like almond milk or other nut milks so it's super simple. Just dump water, dates, hemp seeds, and maybe a little vanilla into the Vitamix, blast and you have hemp milk. If you want chocolate, just add cocoa. We pour it in mason jars (leftover from vegan versions of Classico Pasta Sauce, so essentially free) and into the fridge it goes. We buy 110 pounds of blueberries each fall preordered from Red Ruby Farms on Vancouver Island and freeze them ourselves.
