i am trying to create a simple service to calculate the profitability of my currency trading strategies. i have a set of pivot points (for each currency pair and each currency direction) that i want to use for volatility and other measures that i think are significant for currency trading.

thanks for the reply. i am aware of the strattonx report that is attached to this forum post. but i was hoping to do this without the report as i wasnt sure how possible it was to achieve this. i also came across this tool http://www.balabacus.net/ and was wondering if it would be able to perform all this in one go?

from a technological standpoint, i believe that this is possible, but you must be aware of this: api access would have to be added to the strattonx report. so that will involve the modification of the strattonx file. i am not familiar with this tool, but from the name, it would seem to have this capability. my guess is that this is the tool the sec mentioned in the document linked to this forum.

the second thing we need to do is to upload a sq_eod_pipe dag to amazon emr. the sq_eod_pipe dag has several purposes (even though sq_eod_pipe itself has not):

• it allows one to define and preconfigure the flow of the strategy execution such as the backtesting parameters, the dag structure, the data source used, and test against different setups. the sq_eod_pipe dag is the dag template used to set up the execution of the strategy.
• it also allows one to use on-demand streaming from different data sources such as amazon s3; if the data source is an s3 bucket, the sq_eod_pipe dag provides an amazon emr cluster to consume the data and save it to an amazon s3 bucket.
• if the data source is an s3 bucket, the dag also allows one to split the data into multiple streams to be consumed by multiple emr clusters.
