This is an old question, but since I couldn’t find it and I still need to use SEQuery with local SQL Server (from C#) I found this tutorial:
However, for the first time I went away from code-behind, moved the query logic in the.aspx (in onclick) and added the parameter that I need (Id!).
So I did something like this:

This worked perfectly for me!
A little explanation about why. (from what I understand)
The reason why they say to use stored procedures with parameters is that the SELECT statement does not have the ability to return multiple records.
But if you know that the parameters are simply used to filter/constrain the result, then you don’t need to use one-to-one mapping between data and stored procedure result.
