The Intel Meltdown fix can be added to Linux kernels as an alternative to compile special kernel modules, but Linux kernel developers have decided to not provide the patch on the mainline kernel or for some versions of the Linux mainline kernel.
As a result, the only option you have is to wait for the security-fixed version of the Linux kernel to get released by the kernel developers.
