the divisi sections are a little more biting, but to be honest, they dont lose a lot in terms of size. some chamber section libraries have a thin and tinny sound to them. the adagio violins divisi section is the opposite of that and can hold its own. you get some of the more intimate sounds from the divisi section as you can hear enough bow scrapes and strings twisting to really pour on the dynamics. its a bigger sound than a lot of libraries, which may be good or bad depending on what you are looking for, but it works very well.
Even though the library is priced at $65, its quite expensive. You can get a more capable string library for less.At this point I assume most of you have tried the library and you know what you like and you know what you dont. If you dont have that impression, you should give it a shot. Adagio Violins is surprisingly easy to use and even easy to learn if youre familiar with the other ways of playing a violin. Unlike some other string libraries, you have to be very careful what you turn on and how you turn them on or else Adagio will behave a little differently than its intended. The clean slate is a nice thing, but if you live in a world where only that much is an option you may want to try out something else. Bottom Line: Adagio Violins is an amazingly expressive library for a string library. In addition to having a wide variety of distinctive playing styles, youll also find very nice options for mixing and mastering that really make this lib very versatile. And if you have a shred of musicality, you will love this library. But if you arent musical you may still find this library to be an extremely useful tool. All in all, this is a must-have for any library collector who is serious about his violin collection. This is not a lazy library. This is STRONG and INSPIRING!
Adagio Violins is the next step in the evolution of string libraries. It is a dramatic departure from Kontakt libraries that use a conventional approach and instead is a much more organic and natural sounding library using a unique and original approach. Unlike most string libraries, Adagio features a very wide variety of playing styles and articulations that really make this library very expressive. At the same time it is easy to play, sounds dynamic, and powerful. Adagio strings could be considered to be a direct result of the collaboration between the musicians at 8Dio and the creation team at 8Dio. You will notice that 8Dio lead the design and creation of Adagio Violins and the library contains only concepts that are actually used in the final product. All of the instruments were recorded and played using Real Strings.
