Getting Started With Elements 12
You’ll need a copy of the latest version of Elements (version 12) and the latest version of Photoshop (version CS5). You’ll also need to have an active membership with Adobe. It’s a one-time fee of $29.99 per year, but makes life so much easier!
1. Create a New Document in Photoshop
As with any image editing program, we’ll need to create a new document.
Open Photoshop and click on File, and then New.

In the Layers Panel, click on Gradient, and then select the Linear Gradient Tool from the toolbar. This will display the Gaussian Blur sliders in the top portion of the Tool Options window. Click on the center (Blue) slider to set the start color, and click on the right (Green) slider to set the end color.
4. Smooth the Gradient
Click on the right (Green) slider until it looks similar to the image on the right, and then select the Smooth Shading option on the slider.
